MWC 2021 Day 1
Recap of the first day, what I did and what I saw
Mobile World Congress is back in Barcelona! Albeit not like before, 2021 sees the event go hybrid with both physical and virtual events and exhibitions. It also sees attendees go badgeless with admittance only via the app with your digital badge and negative COVID test.
Although half the size as past years, there’s still lots on-site to explore and here are some of what I’ve seen today:
From talking to Kaspersky about their security for enterprise product, Oral-B with their AI-powered toothbrushes and the first recyclable toothpaste tube through to Gooroomie about their Camstudy virtual study room and platform.
Barcelona has a great startup ecosystem and I had the chance to listen to Enric Asunción, CEO of Wallbox and Valerie Vanhooren Co-Founder and CEO of ONA Therapeutics talk a little about their startup journey, where they are now and what’s next. It was interesting to hear the progress being made with electric chargers for cars and homes to increase the use of sustainable energy. And to hear about biotech, which I do not know a lot about. Valerie expressed such knowledge and passion for what she does you can’t help but feel motivated and inspired about the future of biotech.
Over at 4YFN there’s a buzz of startups and pitches and I’ll be spending more time over the next couple of days here to hear more of what’s happening in the startup world.
